Jeff Stuve Honored as NAIOP's Governmental Affairs Building the Bridge Award

The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) recognized two New Mexican NAIOP members at the National Awards of Excellence in Washington D.C. this month. Jeff Stuve, principal for Cauwels & Stuve Realty and Development Advisors LLC, and C.J. Chavez, president of G-Katmar, Inc., received the Governmental Affairs Building the Bridge Award in recognition of their state legislative activities. This award recognizes only one chapter in the nation, and is chosen by the national NAIOP staff. Stuve and Chavez were honored for their efforts in helping to defeating a Forced Access bill that would have allowed government-mandated access for all telecommunications service providers to privately-owned buildings. The award includes a $1,000 grant to the New Mexico Chapter.

In addition, the NAIOP New Mexico Chapter received the 2005 Chapter of the Year Award for medium-sized chapters, which also includes a $1,000 grant. This is the second year that the Chapter has received this honor. NAIOP New Mexico also received the Education Award for the 2005 seminar entitled "Live/Work/Play...Real Estate Trends in the Next Decade"; the 2005 Legislative/Government Affairs Award, and the 2005 Membership Award. 50 chapters from both the U.S. and Canada participate in the Awards of Excellence competition, and the awards are judged by a national panel of NAIOP members. Winners were recognized at a banquet in Washington D.C. in February as part of the annual NAIOP Leadership Conference.
